Review: Long-term care in Canada 2001
A review by Drs. Howard Bergman and François Béland, Co-directors of SOLIDAGE, Lysette Trahan and Patricia Caris, Québec Ministry of Health and Social Services and Anne Perrault, Scientific Coordinator for IHRT, provides a general description of long-term care policy in Canada with a more specific description of long-term care provision in the province of Quebec.

This review was presented by Howard Bergman and François Béland at the “Mercedes-Train-Bicycle” workshop held in Annecy, France, November 4-9, 2001, under the auspices of the WHO. The workshop was attended by twenty leading experts in long-term care and health systems from developing and developed countries.

Objectives of the workshop:
- Reflect on the experience of participating countries
- Develop a conceptual framework for addressing issues including
the provision of better advice and guidelines for all countries in general,
and for developing countries in particular.
