An important component of the SOLIDAGE research program
is an ongoing interdisciplinary professional training
and development program through which students at the
masters and doctoral level as well as post-doctoral students
can develop research skills within an international and
interdisciplinary environment. The program provides a
unique and challenging field for study, with an internationally
renowned team of leading researchers, practitioners and
decision-makers working together to improve health care
service delivery in Canada.
Funding for the training grants is provided
by the Canadian Institutes for Health Research (CIHR) Interdisciplinary
Health Research Team Program.
Goal
The purpose of the training program is to provide trainees
with an opportunity to gain research experience and skills
in an international, interdisciplinary and action-oriented
research environment.

Grants
may be renewable for one additional year. Applicants
requesting funding renewal are also required
to apply to other funding agencies.

Students
already funded by other agencies are still
eligible to apply for an amount of up to 50%
of their other funding, subject to the approval
of the primary funding agency.

Who should
apply?
Students with an interest in population-based research on frail older persons,
integrated health and social services delivery and/or the translation of health
services and clinical research results into policy and practice, are eligible
to apply. The program welcomes students pursuing a management, clinical practice
or research career in any aspect of integrated health services delivery.
Evaluation basis:
The evaluation of applications is determined as follows:
- 50% - Quality of the proposed research project (pertinence,
method, scientific impact)
- 30% - Quality of academic record
- 20 % - Aptitude and experience (letter(s) of recommendation,
publications)
Responsibilities of fellowship recipients:
- Over the course of the funding period, trainees will
be required to present research results at a minimum of
one scientific meeting.
- At the end of the funding period, trainees will also
be asked to submit a working paper for publication on the
relevant research project.
- Trainees will be expected to contribute a minimum of
5 hours per week to the research program.

Applicants must submit an original and five
copies of the following:
- Application
Form (available in Acrobat)
- A one-page summary, including a description of the
applicant’s research project, the project’s
link with one of the IHRT research axes and its
pertinence to the goals of Solidage.
- Curriculum vitae.
- Letter of support from university supervisor.
- Letter of support from IHRT investigator if different
from university supervisor.
- Academic record for all undergraduate and graduate studies
to date.
